The Outer Worlds 2
The Outer Worlds 2 is set to release on October 29, 2025 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it already feels like one of the most promising RPGs on the horizon. Once again we step into a universe of corporate greed, bizarre science and unpredictable choices, this time in the star system of Arcadia. What excites me most is how much bigger and bolder it looks compared to the first game. Gunplay is smoother, weapons are more diverse, and the perk and flaw systems have been expanded. There is even the option to switch between first and third person perspectives, which could completely change how the game feels. The satire and humor that defined The Outer Worlds remain intact, but there is also a darker, sharper edge this time. Arcadia feels less quirky and more fragile, a colony at the breaking point, with factions fighting for control while your character is caught right in the middle. As a fan of the original, that combination of absurd comedy and meaningful choice was what hooked me. Seeing it return in a larger, more reactive setting is exactly what I wanted. If Obsidian delivers on what they are teasing, this could easily become the RPG of the year. Of course, it is still a promise. Until I am actually there, blasting through Arcadia with a wild new weapon, making impossible decisions and watching the consequences unfold, it remains hope and not proof. But everything shown so far makes me believe this sequel is on the right path.
